About Matt

“I want to use my experiences – as a small business owner,

a community activist and a Marine – to advocate for hardworking families living in Northeast Iowa. Working families deal with issues like health care, child care and economic justice every day. They deserve a strong “put people first” voice in our State Senate.”

Matt Tapscott, Democrat for Iowa Senate.

Every day, Monday through Friday, Matt opens his well-recognized, quality Family Child Care program providing a rich “family” environment for Iowa’s young children. “Children need more intentional care in our childcare delivery system and high-quality “family” childcare is well suited to deliver this “critical need service” to Iowa’s working parents” says Matt. Prior to opening his sole-proprietor business Matt spent fourteen years managing childcare centers, for profit & non-profit.

Northeast Iowa, he says, has “a whole plethora of perfection” in our streams, bluffs, rivers and trails. “We need strong environmental action to protect and enhance Iowa’s green spaces supporting both recreational interests and our economic vitality”
